Google Speed test Tool...."Google's new Speed test Tools","Check your internet Speed"

Once in a while, every netizen has the urge to test internet speed and have a sense of satisfaction that they’re running a super-fast internet connection.

I use the Speed Test tool by Ookla to check the speed of my broadband connection. Generally, I use Google Search to visit the website. But the last time when I Googled the term “speed test,” I didn’t have to go much further than the search result itself.

Now  you can check you speed  test  by google new  speed test  tool, just  type google speed test in
Google. Click here  for  internet speed test
   Step - 2 :
Now click on link which is show in above image and click on start button.

Step-
After the test completes, Google shows the average numbers of the upload and download speeds along with latency and server. It also mentions a brief text to describe the best possible use of your connection.

On an average, the speed test process costs around 40 MB of data. Currently, Google can only check internet speed for connections up to 700 Mbps. So, if you have a gigabit ethernet connection, don’t be sad if can’t you see the numbers crunching up.

Google has partnered with M-Lab to bring their speed test tool to fruition. M-Lab is a consortium which collects internet performance data and opens it for public use and research.

The latest Android version was launched by Google on August 21. If you’re the proud owner of a Google-made device, then the Android 8.0 OTA update for your device is on its way. It will be followed by the update for other brands in upcoming months. For the users who can’t wait, they can download and install Android O system images manually on their Pixel and Nexus devices.

Android 8.0 Oreo saw its release in coincidence with the total eclipse on Monday. It’s a usual tendency for Android users to get every next version on their devices as soon as possible.

The ones who have been a part of the Android beta program are aware of what taste the new dessert packs inside. But still, people would be eager to download and install the final stable build of Android O.

How get Android O update (OTA)?

As Google has officially released Android O, the official OTA update to the supported device will soon come. The update will first arrive on these devices:
  • Google Pixel
  • Google Pixel XL
  • Google Pixel C
  • Google Nexus 6P
  • Google Nexus 5X
  • Nexus Player
If you’re a part of Android O beta program, chances are that you’ll receive Android O OTA update before everyone else. Many users have reported on online forums that the update is already available for installation on Nexus 6P.
To check if your device is getting the update, you need to go to the Settings app on your phone and find About Phone option at the bottom. After tapping on About Phone option, you’ll need to go to System updates and check. If the update is available, follow the instructions and enjoy Android 8.0 update.

Download and install Android O on Google Devices

As always, Google-made devices are the first bakeries where the new snacks appear for the first time. Users of Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player, and Pixel C can wait for the OTA update which would be arriving on their devices anytime soon.
There are system images available for these devices. Although they are meant for developers, restless Pixel and Nexus users can download and flash them on their devices. They can head towards the Android Developers portal from where they can download Android Oreo system images

How to install Android O manually?

After you’ve downloaded the system image file for your Nexus or Pixel device, you can flash the same using the instructions provided on the Developers portal. On the instructions page, click ‘Acknowledge’ to display the steps.
Read the steps carefully before doing anything as there are chances your device might get bricked if something goes wrong. Make sure your device has USB Debugging enabled when you connect it to your computer. You can find it in the Developer Options.
Also, as mentioned in the instructions, flashing the new system images would wipe all the data including apps, photos, videos, contacts, etc. from your device. Do remember to back up all the data.
Compatible devices running Android 8.0 Developer Preview 4 are also receiving automatic updates to the stable build of Android O. According to some reports, some beta users were facing issues while installing the stable build. Google’s Dave Burke later confirmed in a tweet that the problem had been fixed.

Getting Android O Update on other devices

Big house Android-makers like Samsung, HTC, Sony, Xiaomi, etc. have their own Android O update release schedule. That’s because of the uncountable number of devices for which they have to optimize the operating system after its release. This includes adding their custom launchers, bloatware, and other services.
Note: For checking the update availability, you need to follow the steps given in the OTA section (at the top) to install Android O update on your smartphone.
As far as Samsung is concerned, we can expect some announcement at their Galaxy Unpacked event scheduled to happen Wednesday.
A new entrant in the fight is Nokia – an old brand with the new DNA of HMD Global. Nokia came back to life this year with their set of budget Android devices including Nokia 3, 5, and 6 along with the recent flagship Nokia 8. The company has hinted about a pure Android experience for their users and it’ll be interesting to see how fast Nokia users manage to get Android O update.

Google’s Latest Search Feature Lets You Find Out If You’re Depressed

Google has added a new feature to its mobile search result. Now, if you’ll search “clinical depression” or other depression-related terms on Google Mobile, you’ll see an option to check if you’re depressed by taking an online test. Google has partnered with the National Alliance on Mental Illness to bring this clinically validated questionnaire to search results.

last year, Google rolled out a new feature called “Symptom Search” to help the users tell about the situations when one needed to visit a doctor. Now, going one step ahead, Google has rolled out a feature that will allow you to screen yourself for depression online.

As a result of a collaboration with the National Alliance on Mental Illness, a Google search on depression-related questions will show you an option to perform a check. In Google’s words: “When you search for “clinical depression” on Google on mobile, you’ll see a Knowledge Panel that will give you the option to tap “check if you’re clinically depressed.”
After tapping the option, you’ll see a PHQ-9, a clinically validated questionnaire, to test yourself. This way, you can privately self-assess to determine the level of depression. After that, you can easily make a decision to visit a doctor.
According to National Alliance on Mental Illness, people delay an average 6-8 years after the onset of symptoms. Depression is a treatable condition that’s impacting the lives of millions of people each year.
We hope that this depression test on Google turns out to be useful for people who can use it as the first step of getting a proper diagnosis and treatment.

Happy 22nd Birthday Windows 95 — How Bill Gates Changed the Computing Forever

Twenty-two years ago, Bill Gates changed the world. On August 24, 1995, Microsoft released Windows 95 for the general public, starting a desktop computing revolution that changed the way people used computers. There’s no denying  the fact that Windows 95 is responsible for shaping and guiding the Windows operating systems.

The advent of Windows 95 meant a boom for the desktop PCs. Then, with an easier and more immersive graphical user interface, Bill Gates aimed to make PC a household device and change the world. It wasn’t the first version of Windows and people had seen many other iterations before. But, Windows 95 had an extraordinary impact on people and Windows 95 still has a cult fan following.

Windows 95 introduced the Start Menu–a feature present in Windows 10–that became the chief reason for the failure of Windows 8. Today, we all know that the Start Button is the heart and soul of a Windows OS that navigates you through programs and various commands. All the subsequent versions of Windows carried this button, except Windows 8.

On its website, Microsoft writes about Windows 95

Do you remember the hour-long instructional video produced by Microsoft that started Mattew Perry and Jennifer Aniston (Chandler and Rachel from Friends)? Take a look.

Talking about the other fancy promotions, the Empire State Building and Toronto’s CN Tower were lit up in Microsoft colors. If you think this was enough, let me remind you of the rumored $8 million paid to the Rolling Stones for allowing “Start Me Up” to be used as the soundtrack to its television ads.

To run Windows 95, you needed a PC with a 386DX or higher processor (486 recommended) and at least 4 MB of RAM (8 MB of RAM recommended). Upgrade versions were available for both floppy disk and CD-ROM formats, with availability in 12 languages.

Along with Windows 95, there came the Internet Explorer, which became the first web browser for many people. Now the PCs were more affordable, as well as they became a household device. Thanks to the hard work of Windows engineers and Bill Gates, in 1998, Microsoft became world’s biggest company.

Android O’s Official Name May Be Exactly What You Thought, Leak Reveals

Google tries to turn up the curiosity levels for every Android release, mostly, the naming part. For Android O, people have their assumptions about what name it might carry.

Many of them think the official name for Android O would be Oreo. But there are other possibility as well including Ontbijtkoek, Oliebol, Oatmeal Cookie, etc.

We can only hope that it’s a random name, not another hint. Indeed, Oreo would be a better choice than Octopus when picking names for Android O.

Curious minds can have a sense of satisfaction after knowing the name. But do keep in mind the fact that Android O release is scheduled for 21 August. Still, there are two days left. You can watch the live stream of the event happening in New York at 2:40 PM Eastern Time. The release date has been synchronized with the solar eclipse which is the first of its kind since 1918.

Millennials, Google has an advise for you

As the most widely-used search engine in the world, Google needs to stay on its toes when it comes to eliminating malware and phishing websites from its massive search index. Though the company does a lot behind-the-scenes to take care of malware concerns, it also keeps users aware about how they can tackle these issues from their end.

In order to inform web users (especially youngsters) about these attacks, the company, like every year, celebrated 'Safe Internet Day' on February 6. We had a word with Sunita Mohanty, Google India's director of trust and safety, who shared her thoughts about millennials and the way they use the internet.

According to Mohanty, young web users should be conscious about giving out their personal information online and leaving their footprints across different websites, especially social networking ones

She said that young users should be 'socially conscious' about the websites they open and feed personal information on. They should also be made aware of exactly what information they are supposed to provide or not provide online.

"For millennials, the most important thing is to be responsible on the internet, which is by not leaving any digital footprints that may come back to haunt them later."

Mohanty further added that a lot of times, youngsters become revolutionary on the web and leave a lot of information, all of which comes back after years when they are applying for a job.

She said that by "being conscious about what you leave on the internet will go a long way in keeping your relationship with the internet safe."

Not only did she talk about youngsters leaving bits and pieces of their personal information online, but also explained how Google is working hard when it comes to online payments made for Google Play Store purchases

Google, on its end, uses a 'risk engine' to catch any suspicious transactions in seconds. The company is also educating people on how they can ensure that their in-app transactions are safe.

For now, one of the Google's primary focuses seems to be bringing the 'next billion' users on the web. The company is not only helping in giving more users access to the internet, but also explaining them how to browse safely.

This is a part of what we heard about Google's attempt to make the web safer. Recently, the company also explained how it takes care of millions of apps available on Play Store. While all these initiatives by Google are appreciable, we can only expect the company to improve its security features even more in the coming years.

Alibaba Reportedly in Talks With Telecom Players to Provide Free Internet in India

Chinese Internet giant Alibaba may be the next major player after Facebook to try its hands on providing free Internet in India. A new report claims that the company is in talks with telecom operators as well as Wi-Fi providers to offer free Internet services in the country.

"We will definitely look at the opportunity to work together with service providers or even some Wi-Fi providers. We are trying to offer lower cost data to users and better connectivity, even free of cost connectivity. Wi-Fi providers and other players can be potentials and we are in talk," Jack Huang, President of Overseas Business, Alibaba Mobile Business told Business Insider India.

Alibaba is reportedly still working on the plans around its free Internet service in India and is still in talks with "potential partners." The Chinese company is considering providing free Internet services to states that have connectivity problems. "We actually think in geographic way because in India not every state is suffering from connectivity problem so we will focus more on providing this kind of services to states that are suffering more and also we will have comprehensive analysis on already existing consumers who will actually need this kind of service," added Huang.

It's worth mentioning that Alibaba isn't the first to work on providing free Internet in the country as Facebook earlier launched its Internet.org and Free Basic projects with similar aims. However, both of Facebook's initiatives met with heavy backlash in India from "net neutrality" advocates, who claimed that Free Basics only allowed access to selected websites thus violating the principle that the entire Internet should be available to everyone on equal terms.

These startups can help you find a date on Valentine's Day

Demand for letter-writing startups is on the upswing around the upcoming Valentine's Day.

In May 2016, four friends at a New Delhi cafe noticed that everyone around them were consumed by social media and were having multiple conversations at the same time. They realized that oldworld, one-to-one communication was lost in technology. The foursome--software engineer Sumit Jain, techie Sumanyu Varma, lawyer Lalit Narolia and jewellery entrepreneur Sandeep Manna -- decided to launch a startup for people to rediscover the romance of the written word.

With an initial investment of about Rs 50,000 for setting up a website and a payment gateway, they started LetteraMail. They charge Rs 99-150 a letter and write them after work. Over the next eight months, the startup received more than 3,000 orders, most of them from southern India for love letters. They hired two freelance writers, paying them up to Rs 40 per letter. "We put all our earnings back into business operations. We broke even recently and hope to make profits this Valentine's Day. This traction will help us find external funding," said Varma.

Gone are the days when reading someone's personal letter was considered disrespectful. A multitude of online platforms professionally draft and post your letters -- from romantic compositions to resignations. They cater to millennials who prefer the personal touch of snail mail but outsource the job due to paucity of time and because letterwriting has become a lost art.

"I have never written a single letter all my life. Like most people in my generation, I am good with verbal expression but cannot put emotions down in words," said Vijayeta Sharma, 29, an operations officer at IIIT-B who approached Bengaluru-based The Indian Handwritten Letter Company (TIHLC) to write personalized letters to her husband.

TIHLC co-founder Anubhav Ankit said that all their seven writers have day jobs and manage their quota of five letters a day after work. "They find it exciting to get out of the corporate routine and be a part of someone else's world," he said. TIHLC has penned 4,400 letters since its launch in April 2016, about half of them romantic ones.

The writers are based in different states and write in nine Indian languages, including Kannada, Telugu, Bengali and Odia. "We chose this quicker and cost-effective model so that the order is fulfilled by the writer closest to the client," said Ankit. The startup receives 40 orders on a regular day and 100 a day around Valentine's Day in February.Charges range from Rs 99 to upward of Rs 2,500 a letter, depending on the level of personalization.

The services are entirely tech-dependent, making infrastructure investments almost negligible.

CallyAlly's founders Shiv Sharma and Prahlad Singh, for instance, are two techies based out of Pune. Even with Prahlad temporarily shifting to Germany for an official project, the work remains uninterrupted.

For sustainable business, these ventures tie up with companies seeking to issue bulk handwritten letters to consumers, clients and employees. "Handwritten letters create brand loyalty and recall value and hence are in great demand," said Sharma, who is currently in talks with four companies
